The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary. – Vince Lombardi
If you have a dream or goal in life, then it’s going to take more than you wishing it will happen. Don’t wish for it, work for it. If the life you have imagined is going to come about then it will take work, work and more work. Don’t be afraid of hard work. You might have to re-arrange your schedule or put some of your favorite activities on hold for a little while to allow you more time to work on your dream. That’s OK. Your dream is worth it. You will also meet a few challenges, set backs and roadblocks while working on your dream, but keep on working. If it was easy, anybody could do it. If you don’t know what to work on, here are 3 things you can start working on right now to get you started.
Work on Prioritizing.
Where does your dream fall in your To Do List? Is it usually at the end of a long day and you attempt to work on it when you’re exhausted? If so, then it’s time to rearrange your schedule and make some time to work on your dream when you are at your best. There are certain days in the week that I make sure to go to bed early, in order to wake up extra early and spend some time working on my dream before I head to my “day job”.
Work on Focusing.
“The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus”. – Bruce Lee
There are a lot of things that will strive for your attention throughout the week. Life can be a balancing act in which you try to give your attention to a plethora of things including work, family, children, hobbies, activities, etc. If you are going to accomplish your dream then you will have to set aside time in which you intentionally focus on it.
Work on Re-Charging.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. This is what Jack Nicholson spent his time typing day in and day out in the movie, The Shining. Long story short, it drove him crazy. So while you are working on your dream don’t forget to have a little fun time to take your mind off deadlines and to do lists. This will allow you to recharge and get ready for more.
Now is your time to make your dream happen. Don’t spend any more time wishing it will happen. Roll up your sleeves and get to work and make it happen.
